Kaylee Brooke McCollum

3rd Runner-Up - MISS TEEN USA® 2019

Kaylee Brooke McCollum is an eighteen-year-old college freshman at Itawamba Community College where she is completing her basics towards Nursing School. Her next stop will be Mississippi University for Women where she will pursue her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. After attending MUW, Kaylee Brooke plans to continue her education at The University of Mississippi Medical Center to achieve her dreams of becoming a Nurse Anesthetist. During Kaylee Brooke’s senior year, she took 3 college courses to put her ahead of the game. By taking these courses early, she learned how to study and manage her time on a higher level.

Kaylee Brooke’s humanitarian endeavors consist of raising awareness towards decreasing the food insecurity rate in the state of Mississippi. Her efforts include volunteering at her local food pantry, stocking up her neighbors self-created blessing box, and partnering with a local program in her community called “The Full Tummy Project”. Kaylee Brooke was acknowledged by a national organization, “No Kid Hungry”, for her accomplishment of raising over 5 tons of food for the hungry. After the loss of a very dear friend, Kaylee Brooke made it her mission to be part of the solution to teen suicide. She travels to schools across the state of Mississippi talking directly with students on how to overcome self-doubt and deal with stress. She also encourages them to have open discussions with their peers, teachers and parents regarding the feelings they are having! It’s important to Kaylee Brooke that teens feels safe, accepted and understood.

During Kaylee Brooke’s high school years she had the privilege to be a part of the volleyball and cheerleading teams. Kaylee Brooke also participated in the praise band while volunteering to be a counselor for the pre-teen youth camps at her home church. By participating in these events she learned how to be the patient and kind leader she is today. In 2016, Kaylee Brooke was nominated for the “Caring for Others Award” by her local Woodman of The World association.

Each encounter in Kaylee Brooke’s life has lead her to become the responsible, self-assured leader she is today. She is submerged with eagerness and cannot wait to see what her year as Mississippi Teen USA holds!
